Not a chance! In the time Perry has been Governor of Texas our school systems have degraded to the point of embarrassment and our economy is in the toilet.
Here in Texas we can’t seem to manage to pay for our schools yet we pay plenty of taxes and we are 44th in money spent on our schools to begin with and now they are cutting even more.
We are producing a generation of partially illiterate children and in fact we have at least one high school were 30% of the seniors did not graduate this year. That is disgusting!
Perry has done nothing for this state except cause a massive divide down party lines, run the school systems into the ground, take rights away from women with his sonogram law and cause our state’s economy to have BILLIONS in the way of a deficit.
Perry is also as two faced as they get. He tries to pretend he is for smaller government but acts the opposite. In fact it was his idea to force all little girls to get a HPV immunization shot. This may sound good on face value but it was to be forced on your kids whether you wanted it or not and that is not my America.
BTW. The reason he was pushing this vaccination was not for the good of the kids but for the good of one of his big money campaign contributors who happened to be the manufacturer or the drug. Perry does nothing that is not good for Perry.
If you want to know how he has been in office so long it is easy. Many of my fellow Texans are easily mislead sheep that believe what their preachers say over what common sense states.
So if that all sounds good for the rest of the country as well then yes, Perry for President other than that, hell no! It is bad enough we are stuck with him!
Learning how to protect yourself from an aggressive dog could save your life one day since more people than necessary are killed by vicious dogs every year and the numbers don’t seem to be dropping. Depending on where you live there may be laws holding the owner criminally responsible for a dog attack but that does nothing for you or your family if you are maimed or killed during an attack.
Thankfully we have many different options for protecting ourselves and you just need to decide which one is the best fit for you.

No matter how hard you try to avoid it there may come a time where you need to know how to clean the eyes when hit with pepper spray due to a mistake or mishandling on your part. If done correctly you can counteract a good portion of the effects but great care must be taken as you can easily make it worse as well.
The pepper spray liquid that comes out is mostly water based with the exception of the pepper gel and pepper foam. The pepper granules are added to the delivery medium and vary in size by whether you are using foam, gel, spray or a fog style pepper spray.
The size of the pepper grains matter because the finer the grain the more easily they will be absorbed into the pores of the skin.
There are two main things you can use to counteract the effects and they are water or milk. Either one will effectively help to flush the grains out of your eyes as well as off the skin.
One main thing you need to keep in mind is that under no circumstances should you dab, blot, wipe or rub in an effort to remove the pepper spray as this will only serve to make it many times worse than before as it would smear even more into your pores.
Whether you choose milk or just plain water you need to just keep flushing your eyes and skin until the effects are diminished. This may take anywhere from just a few minutes to quite a few as this will all depend on the quality and volume of pepper spray.
The hardest part will be keeping your eyes open enough to get the water or milk in there to flush out the pepper spray and it make take a few minutes of flushing before you can open them up even halfway. I have found that tilting your head to the side and pouring at an angle across the eyes starting in the corners to be the most effective until the eyes can be opened further.
Once the eyes can be opened at least halfway you can then take a milk carton or bottle of water and hold it over one eye as you attempt to open the eye allowing the liquid to permeate the entire eye cavity.
If you have been sprayed in the eyes with the pepper gel or pepper foam models you will have a bit harder time removing it from the eyes and skin as it sticks and smears. As with the regular sprays you need to just keep flushing and under no circumstances should you rub.
Many people wonder which one is better for defending yourself, a stun gun or pepper spray and there is no short answer to the question. The effects and usage of the two are so different that comparing them becomes complicated.
Stun guns are designed to inflict pain in order to deter an attacker and cause him to head the other way. Although the pain level can vary according to what voltage you are using, it hurts either way. Unlike you see on television zapping someone with a stun gun for a second does not cause them to fall unconscious or flop around on the ground like a fish.
This is mostly due to the fact that you need to hold a stun gun against your attacker’s body in order for the stun to be delivered and when zapped your natural instinct is to pull away from the stun gun. In order to render someone unconscious with a stun gun you would probably have to hold it against their body for more than 10 seconds.
With that said I am sure you can see that a stun gun is not a projectile weapon and your attacker would have to be close enough to grab you in order for you to use your stun gun and this can be extremely dangerous.
A pepper spray on the other hand is a projectile weapon that can generally shoot its spray from 6-25 feet away depending on the size and model of your pepper spray.
Not only can you use it long before your attacker can get to you it lasts for up to 45 minutes unlike the stun gun whose effect ends as soon as the stun gun is removed from contact with the attacker’s body.
This means that a pepper spray can buy you quite some time to escape your attacker and make it to safety as he will not be able to see or breathe clearly for more than 30 minutes.
As you can see the two items are like apples and oranges. Pepper spray is meant for an attacker that is at a distance because if they are in too close you may get blow-back from the spray which can cause you to also not be able to see to escape.
A stun gun is meant for an attacker that is in close and within arm’s reach of you. So to answer the original question as to which works better it all depends on the situation. You can find stun guns in all sizes and voltages so it should be easy for you to find one that you would like to carry with you. A mini stun gun can be a good choice if you need something small.
Both items are rather inexpensive and to be honest you would be the safest if you have one of each with you at all times. If you see the attacker coming, you pepper spray him. If you don’t see him coming and he grabs you then you stun gun him to make him let go and then you pepper spray him.
Well the short answer is hell no! But we sure do need to revamp the entire system in order to ensure only those truly in need utilize the services as well as keeping it from becoming overly costly to all of us.
I don’t know the actual numbers or even if our government actually knows how much we are being ripped off by crooks each year through the misuse of social services but I have seen numbers in the hundreds of millions and some even billions lost each year as per various watchdog sites.
Here in Texas, the republican state government which it really is now since they have a super majority, is doing all that it can to cut social services and right now seem to be doing all they can to make an already mediocre educational system even worse by cutting deep into the school systems causing them to dump huge numbers of teachers and increase classroom sizes. But I digress.
My point is simple. Social services are needed to keep people from suffering when they can be helped and this holds true especially for the children, the elderly and the mentally and physically disabled. We have to do this, it is what makes us human beings and not animals.
The problem is that there will always be scumbags that try to beat the system and this is where some changes could stop that from occurring as much.
Take the welfare system for example. This alone is nothing but a money sinkhole as it currently stands. There is little enforcement and tons of abuse. That system is broken but can be easily fixed.
Each state should create a “job bank”. Yes I know that this will compete with temp agencies but they can work deals to get staff from the job bank as well or something or go out of business. It would be a small price to pay to drop our tax bills by billions without screwing over our fellow human beings.
When you go on welfare you would HAVE to go to training in some field so that you can be either temp’d out to some company, used in service of the state or hired off. In my welfare system … everyone works, no free rides!
As for the training, we could work deals with various companies in each state to offer training to the job bank workers in various occupations. This benefits the companies by giving them a free look at potential employees and helps us get people working.
Also there is no having children while on welfare. You have to either agree to birth control and not having kids until you can afford them or go it on your own without welfare!
You may be saying but what if they have kids already when they go on welfare, how can they work and train? Easy state run daycare’s staffed by job bank trained employees or third party companies that hire from the job bank that offers childcare at a reasonable rate for job bank workers until they leave the bank.
Even with the daycare and training costs it would keep people from being on welfare for years if they have to work anyway they might as well go find a better paying job instead of leeching off of us and in the long run save tons of money.
Welfare should be a hand up not a hand out!
I got rambling so long here I’ll have to come back to rant about the other social services later in another part of this series which will now be at least 2 parts .
Although we would like to be able to afford a high-tech monitored alarm system to protect our family in our home, most of us cannot. These high-tech systems can cost a lot of money to get installed and then there is that monthly monitoring fee that if you don’t pay will cause your alarm to become useless.
Thankfully we can get inexpensive home alarm systems that are not monitored but are useful to increase the safety level of your home and help to protect your family from intruders.
When it comes to good inexpensive home alarm systems you have some options that offer different benefits of which you need to decide is the most important to you. This way you can get the biggest bang for your security buck.
There are 3 main types of unmonitored home alarm systems and they are the Auto Dialer, the Voice Alert and the Siren Alarm.
• Auto Dialer Alarm – These are inexpensive and easy to install and use. They range in features but they all do one thing and that is it will call a pre-programmed group of phone numbers as well as setting off a very loud built-in alarm. The main benefit being you can avoid coming home to an intruder hiding in your home. You will know someone has triggered your alarm because it will call you and then you can call the police and let them deal with the criminals.
• The Voice Alert Alarm – This particular system will send a pre-programmed message back to the base inside of the home. You will know right away where the intruder is located and can take proper counter measures from there.
• Siren Alarm – These systems fire off either a built-in or external set of loud sirens to scare off the criminals and alert the home owner as well as the neighbors to the intrusion. Some of these units also come with a built-in auto-dialer feature.
As you can see there are some differences in the available inexpensive home alarm systems but you should be able to find one that will fit your needs. Just think about what type of protection you want and need and then go from there.
With all of the new miniaturization technology coming out in the last few years we have had an increase in the availability of portable hidden surveillance cameras. These days you can get a camera into just about anything which makes finding the right camera for your needs much easier than ever before.
Due to Federal regulations, hidden cameras that can be permanently installed are not permitted to record audio because of the possibility of many different types of abuse. But thankfully this doesn’t apply when it comes to portable hidden surveillance cameras which are allowed to record audio as well as video.

As the warmer weather approaches more women will find themselves able to enjoy the outdoors and all of the activities associated with warm weather fun. But with this additional outdoor activity we will also see an increase in attacks on women.
By following a few simple tips and using your common sense, you can drastically lower your odds of falling victim to attack.
• Never wear your earphones in both ears. It makes it far too easy for some criminal to sneak up and attack you before you know it. Criminals love people who make easy victims and not being able to hear them coming up from behind would make you a much easier target.
• Carry some type of self defense weapon. It could give you the edge you need to get away from or outright repel an attacker. You could use a device like the Mace Hot Walkers. They are 1 pound walking weights that contain a hidden pepper spray. Not only will they help you get a better workout, they provide you that extra edge should the need arise.
• There really is safety in numbers. It is not a guarantee but it sure does not hurt. So if at all possible, try to find a workout partner that enjoys the same type of outside activities that you do.

With the release of the alleged Mel Gibson rant tapes it has left many people wondering just how someone could record a phone conversation without the other person knowing about it. Training yourself to become a better fighter doesn’t necessarily mean that every weekend you are encouraged to frequent sports pubs and engage in physical altercations. In fact, becoming involved with close combat training can effectively enhance your ability to defend yourself in those unexpected situations.
I think we all understand which situations I’m speaking; the one where you’re simply minding your own business on a street corner when somebody approaches you with demeaning words and unwarranted anger – this is where learning how to defend yourself physically can come in quite handy, because it’s almost certain that this person advanced with the intention to fight.
In short, MMA or mixed martial arts is defined as a full contact combat sport, and it permits a large variety of fighting methods, including those of tradition and non-tradition. When I say submission grappling, I mean putting your adversary in a choke-hold and/or any of the following:

• Clinch holds

During the holiday season people seem to completely loose their minds and as a result the crime rate shoots through the roof.

All this serves to do is entice criminals to break out your windows and reach in and grab your stuff since it only takes a few seconds.
2. Utilize the buddy system it is a good idea for more than one reason. If you must unload packages into your car be sure you have someone to either stay in the car or drive the packages back to your home. If done right you can safely knock out the holiday shopping for you and your 1 or 2 of your friends or family members
3. Never place packages inside the car if you can avoid it. Just covering things up with a blanket will not do enough to disguise your items and keep crooks away. The best place to place packages in your car while you finish shopping would be inside of the trunk. Just be very careful while unloading.
4. Carry some sort of key chain pepper spray or even a stun gun to ensure should something bad happen you have some sort of defensive weapon.
5. As you go to either get into or out of your vehicle, you need to be paying attention to who is in the parking lot with you. I personally know a man who just got jumped by 4 men a week ago. They severely beat and robbed him after he left a store and went to get into his car. If you feel weird or see anyone who makes you nervous, park somewhere else or leave altogether since it is better to be safe than sorry.
The biggest thing you can do to remain safe during this or any holiday season is to use your head for something more than just a hair holder!
A little common sense can go a long way to helping to keep you safe while you enjoy the holiday season.
