How to open the Retractable Steel Baton -  You have a couple of choices here. You should always try to carry your baton in your hand so you have it ready when you need it and this is where the LED attachment really comes in handy. Since it is already in your hand when walking just flip your wrist.   You can do this either with a downward motion and let gravity help or you can, with a little practice, simply flip your wrist without the downward motion. This is the best way to open the Retractable Steel Baton because when you face it down you now have to lift it to use it. When you can open it with JUST a flip of the wrist it is ready for action immediately!   How to close the Retractable Steel Baton - The easiest way to close it is to strike it once on the ground at an angle, then you can either finish closing it by hand or strike it straight down on a hard surface. After you strike it at a angle the auto lock disengages and you will hear and see it and can close it the rest of the way in whatever way you find easiest.
